July 19, 2009: I have always loved the wind. I remember as a kid, growing up in Philadelphia, I'd stand between the subway cars as they barreled up the tracks and delight in the wind rushing by. Perhaps they were a reminder that no matter what was going on, it didn't have to stick. I could allow things to be lifted up and out of me whenever I wanted. My wind experiences, fortunately, have evolved from subway cars to wind in my face during bike rides and sailboat races, convertibles and thunder storms, but my love of this force of nature remains to this day.
The fact is, we are all just energy and vibration, not solid though we appear that way, and there is no reason why we have to let anything stick. And I dare to say that means sadness, dis-ease, beliefs and ways of being that no longer serve us, hurts, pain...The most profound exercise I experienced while in psychic school in Berkeley a couple decades ago was a demonstration of the amount of energy it takes to hold on to something, good or bad, and the profound difference experienced when we allow it to move through us -- an exercise I often include in my workshops. In the meantime, here's a practice you can use to discover that sense of lightness and freedom we probably all crave and don't always know how to find:
Think of a window screen, with all its tiny holes, strong enough to keep big things out, but allowing air, fragrances, sounds to move through the erected boundary. We're like that -- seemingly solid, but in reality, made up of molecules and atoms with a lot of space in between. Now allow the holes in YOUR screen to enlarge, getting bigger and bigger until you perceive yourself as a large space -- no barriers, no obstructions, no filters. Watch your thoughts, your memories, your judgments, your fears and anything perceived as coming from the outside towards you to continue through you -- not sticking, not attaching, just blowing through like the wind. Notice that certain things we want to grab on to more than others, but let it all keep moving through. Know that everything we experience is a gift, but it is not ours to claim ownership to, including our friends and loved ones, lifestyle and occupation. Open yourself to limitless potential and trust that when it's meant to "stick", for whatever duration, that your Higher Intelligence will close the holes enough to catch it, like a dream catcher. Let go of the gripping, and relax yourself into the wind.

July 6, 2009: Recently, while sitting at the water's edge after a particularly strenuous bike ride, I got to practice the concept of being "totally open and allowing." Receiving guidance from my Higher Self, I was able to see how, when I was in a state of allowing, dragonflies, ducks, geese suddenly moved into my "personal space" without hesitation, whereas a few minutes before, they'd been moving back and forth around me.
See that? I heard. When you are open to the Universe, the gates open and there is no longer a barrier between what you want and what gets in. Imagine these dragonflies are abundance, relationships, adventure, more personal time. When you allow, the opportunities are endless.
Practice: Standing with palms facing forward, arms by sides or outstretched, imagine yourself as a five-pointed star. Feel every muscle and molecule in your body relax. Place your awareness on the five points of the star: imagine that at the top of your head, the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet a space opens, like the lens of a camera. ALLOW.
Now place your awareness on a sixth point: your heart chakra, right in the center of your chest. Again, allow this area to open like the eye of a camera.
Now affirm, announce and decree:
I am open and available to all the wondrous things that life has to offer.
Feel yourself open and truly available. Notice the sensations of being relaxed and open. if you start to contract, what closes? Where does the energy go? Do you start thinking, doubting, judging, become fearful? Notice it all and then just push the Refresh button. Just continue to refresh, or reboot, remembering to keep all six points open.
*If you are your most relaxed before getting out of bed in the morning, this practice can be done lying down.
Practice this once of twice daily for at least a week and notice how things begin to shift.
